Newcastle are in talks with Osasuna over a deal to sign winger Victor Munoz.
Positive talks have taken place over the last few days, but there is no agreement yet.
Reports in Spain suggest Osasuna are looking for around 35m for the former Real Madrid man.
Munoz is currently with Spain at their World Cup base camp in Tennessee.
Osasuna have also recently changed coach which is complicating things.
Newcastle are cautious after missing out on Zadock Yohanna to Brighton last week.
Earps' PSG departure confirmed ahead of expected WSL return
Mary Earps will leave PSG this summer, the club have announced.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper will depart after two seasons with the top-flight French side when her contract expires on June 30.
It is understood that Earps is closing in on a return to the WSL with London City Lionesses.
Earps said of her time with PSG in a video posted on their social media account: Id say great because Im leaving with such fond memories. Ive met great people, Ive trained at a world class facility, Ive played at Parc des Princes.
And experience because I think its added to my growth as a player and as a person. I think thats all you can ask for in life is to grow and to be a little bit better every day. Thats what I try to be.
Ive got to play with some fantastic players from all over the world. I got to go to Africa for the first time with the final of the League Cup.
I think theres been a lot of on-the-pitch experiences. Ive had a lot of firsts as well. Off-the-pitch Ive had a lot of big moments here in Paris. A lot of experiences which Ill remember forever.
Im leaving with my heart full and Im so happy, privileged and lucky that I was able to have such a wonderful experience here.
Earps arrived at PSG from Manchester United in summer 2024, playing 57 games in two seasons for the French side and helping them to finish third in the Premiere Ligue last season.
On the international stage, Earps played a key role in Englands Euro 2022 victory and their run to the World Cup final in 2023.
She was capped 53 times for the Lionesses before retiring ahead of their Euros defence last summer.

Watford agree contract release for Dionisi

Empoli have agreed a contract release with Watford for their former boss Alessio Dionisi.
The 46-year-old was still under contract with the club for another year, despite being sacked in March.
The release now paves the way for Watford to appoint him as their new head coach.
Your Site News revealed last week that Dionisi has agreed a two-year deal with the Championship side.

A back-up goalkeeper is also on the agenda for Manchester United in this window.
Although Andre Onana has returned from his loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor, he is not expected to have a chance to compete with Senne Lammens to be the No1 in pre-season.
Onana's future is very much seen as being away from Old Trafford, while Turkish keeper Altay Bayindir is also another likely to be another departure this summer.
Man Utd will look at potential options to support Lammens after an impressive debut season in between the sticks.
Young goalkeeper Radek Vitek, who had a successful loan spell at Bristol City last season, is not expected to be the back-up to Lammens.
