Sir Alex Ferguson: Man Utd legend taken to hospital after feeling unwell ahead of his former side's Premier League game with Liverpool

Sir Alex Ferguson was taken to hospital after feeling unwell ahead of Manchester United vs Liverpool on Sunday.

The 84-year-old legendary United boss, who is a regular at the club's games both home and away, had been at Old Trafford to watch the big Premier League match between the two rivals.

Ferguson led United to 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League triumphs during his 26 years in charge of the club from 1986 to his retirement in 2013.

He then served as an ambassador for the club until 2025.

In his illustrious career, he claimed 38 trophies with United, as well as three Scottish league titles and four Scottish Cups with Aberdeen.

Ferguson also managed St Mirren and Scotland, including at the 1986 World Cup, following a playing career as a forward which saw him finish top scorer in the Scottish Division One in 1965/66.

Man Utd head coach Michael Carrick when asked about his former boss following :

"Well, I haven't got any update so I don't know the latest as we stand now. I did hear about it before the game, so I was aware of it before the game.

"All I can say is I wish him the best. I'm very affected by it, the news, and I just hope he's alright. I just don't know the latest, but we hope for him to be in good shape and we wish him all the best.

"We certainly think that hopefully the result, when he hears about it, can give him a boost."

No further updates were given on Ferguson's condition on Monday.
